Privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026 · Executive Function Magazine (EFM)
This policy explains how EFM uses information when you visit our website or use our app.
Information we use
When you create an account, we process your email address, account identifier, sign-in credentials through Firebase Authentication, and any profile name you provide. If you use Google sign-in on the website, Google provides the account information needed to sign in. We store membership status, payment identifiers, and magazine ownership to provide the same reading access on the website and app. Stripe handles card details and payments; EFM does not store your full card number.
If you contact us or submit an article, we receive the details and files you provide, which can include your name, email, phone number, article, biography, headshot, and advertisement materials. We use these to answer you and manage submissions.
Readership and technical data
EFM counts successful magazine opens by issue, day, and source (website or app) to show popular issues and understand readership. Repeated opens from the same signed-in account within 30 minutes count once. Temporary deduplication records use hashed identifiers rather than raw account IDs and expire for cleanup after two days. Anonymous website opens use a temporary hash derived from connection information. EFM’s shared readership system does not collect page turns or reading time inside the external magazine reader.
Our website also uses Firebase Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics, and Vercel Speed Insights for website usage and performance. Hosting and service providers may process technical information such as device, browser, network address, diagnostic events, and request logs. If you enable new-issue notifications, we store your device’s Firebase messaging registration token, account identifier, platform, and notification preference so we can deliver alerts through Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, and through Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service on iOS. You can turn alerts off in the app or in your device’s notification settings. Device registrations are removed when you delete your account. The app stores appearance preferences and saved reading lists on your device, with reading lists separated by account.
Service providers and external links
We use Google Firebase for sign-in, data, and file storage; Vercel for website hosting and performance; Stripe for payment processing; and email services to deliver support and submission messages. We share information with these providers as needed to operate EFM. Magazines open in external readers such as Heyzine or Aflip. Reader providers, partner websites, and embedded third-party services such as Trustpilot process information under their own policies when you use them.
EFM uses readership information to operate and improve the service. We do not include card information or raw account identifiers in our shared readership statistics. We may disclose information when needed to comply with law, address fraud, or protect the service.
Retention and your choices
We keep account and reading-access information while your account exists. You can clear the app’s saved reading list in Settings, sign out, or delete your account. Deletion removes the authentication account, profile, reading entitlements, account-linked submission records and their stored uploads, and stops EFM membership renewals. Device-local data on another device may remain until cleared there. Anonymous aggregate readership totals remain.
Payment providers retain transaction records for accounting and disputes. Copies already delivered by email, published magazine content, service logs, and provider backups may remain separately from the active account. Contact us about personal information in published material or correspondence, or to request access to or correction of your information. We verify identity before acting on private account requests.
